Just another Monday Funday.

-- wake up -- get dressed [new jeans! yay!] -- straighten hair -- make oatmeal -- attempt to eat oatmeal -- too hot -- wait -- eat oatmeal -- watch love it or list it -- realize i'm going to miss my bus -- brush teeth -- put on jacket -- put on shoes -- leave -- walk halfway down the block -- realize i forgot my lunch -- walk halfway back -- struggle to take off jacket and purse -- grab lunch -- basically sprint to bus stop -- sprint across road to avoid a cement truck -- make the bus -- get off the bus -- get to work 10 minutes late. oops.
so then i worked and it was all fine and dandy and hunky dory. then we found out there was a tornado warning/watch for the edmonton area, so i was pretty stressed out. nothing happened until i got home, and even then it was just rainy. super super rainy. but i can handle rain. theeeeeen i got a real good craving for a cupcake, and i knew that a blogger i follow (Kylee) posts yummy treats on her blog all the time. so i went a-stalking. and found glazed donut muffins. commence drooling.

July 16, 2012

it's definitely monday.

oh. my. gosh.

this monday has definitely been a money.

first - on saturday - carter called me while i was at fort edmonton with my mother-in-law and sister-in-laws and said that he was on his way to the fort mcmurray hospital (he's working out of town - read here for deets) because he hit his hand with a sledgehammer. he basically described it to me as a belling tool-hand-hammer sandwich. my poor husband. :( good news: it's not broken, just definitely bruised. bad news: he's staying in anzac for the rest of the week.

okay. so back to monday.

last night i had to start fasting at 7 so i could get my blood taken this morning. so la-de-da, i woke up an hour earlier than i usually do, took my insulin, then walked to the lab by my house (figure 1.0).

(figure 1.0)
and got in line. 40 minutes later they called me in. now i'm not afraid of needles. hello, diabetic! but as of late (like my tb test that i had for work) they've made me slightly light headed. so the little filipino lady put the needle in my arm and started taking blood. and the more she took the worse i felt. by the time she finished i was ready to throw up. i was so light headed. the last thing i saw was her bringing me an orange juice.. apparently i blacked out and came back to when i was laying in a bed with an ice pack on the back of my neck. it was so horrifying. i think it had a lot to do with the fact that i hadn't eaten in 12 hours because that had never happened to me before. then obviously i went to mcdonald's for breakfast - since i was already late for work - and i was feeling much better after.

when i got to work - only half an hour late! not too bad, considering! - one of my managers asked me to go with her to her office. i was expecting to do a performance evaluation since i've been there for a month.. but instead she told me that i need to stop taking 25 minute breaks (we get 15 minutes twice a day and 30 minutes once a day) and that it's inappropriate for me to leave the office to take phone calls. WHAT?! the longest break i ever took was 16 minutes, and that was because the crosswalk light took too long to let me cross. and i NEVER leave to take phone calls. who is that important that i have to talk to? are you kidding me? but i didn't argue with her. i just nodded. but it made me so furious. the worst part is that i'm like pretty positive i know who said it, but i'm just keeping it to myself.

THENNNNN. on my way home from work. the freaking bus driver GOT LOST. ARE YOU JOKING ME?!?!?!?! i looked up from my phone and i was like.. uhh. what? (figure 1.1) is the route my bus is supposed to take. (A) is where i get on and (B) is where i live.

(figure 1.1)
this is the route that he took. (A) is where i get on, (B) is where he dropped me off, and (C) is where i live.

go ahead and ask how happy i am right now.

A Lonely Post.

I try to keep sad things like this off my blog.. But I just need to get it out.

Carter and I have been together for over two years. And I'm going to say that for about half of that time we've been apart.

When we had been together for 4 months he joined the Canadian Military Reserves, so that's where it began with weekends apart. Big deal, right? It was really hard for me, actually. I worked all week and wanted weekends with my boyfriend, but I couldn't have that because he was doing what he loved. So I supported it. And nine months after he joined it he took a leave of absence. So we went back to being together every day.

After we'd been together for just over a year, I moved to Edmonton and he moved to Slave Lake, so we only had weekends together. I was in school and he was working, so he drove 3 hours to and from Edmonton every weekend just to see me for 3 days. And that sucked. But it was good for my school, he wasn't around to distract me.

He moved in with me after our wedding in February, and we have spent every. single. night together since then -- almost 5 months! And now he's working in Fort McMurray for a couple of months. Which means that we'll only see each other every 10 days.. And that's really sad for me.

But I can't help that we're just being prepared for when he goes into RCMP training. In Regina. For 6 months.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Long Weekend!

This last weekend was the July 1st long weekend! So it was our first time to Raymond since April -- boy, do  I miss my hometown (and family).

Friday we got there pretty late, went in and said hello, then headed to G'ma & G'pa's house to sleep - they let us take over their place for the weekend while they were camping.

Saturday we obviously went for a pancake breakfast, then Carter headed off with his sisters and I went into Lethbridge with my mom. Bonnie and Larry came to Canada for a week of fun! So we had a barbecue, and... I don't know what else we did! [Oh ya, husband got sun burnt. Bad. But I told him to wear sunscreen!!]

Sunday we decided to go to Waterton!! We had never been together!! But it wasn't warm or anything at all. In fact, we were only there for maybe 2 hours because it was so chilly!
Classic Cameron Falls shot.

We 'hiked' up beside the falls.

Cameron Lake!

On the side of the road on the way down from Cameron Lake

Up by the Prince of Wales. It was pouring!
Then, cause it was July 1, we headed into Lethbridge for the fireworks! They were actually really good.

Mammy - isn't she adorable?
Ahahah Brooklynn..

I love fireworks!

The bros were there too!
Monday was Raymond's Canada Day celebration!! Holla to parade and massive barbecue and packing up and coming home...
